Medical Technology Program Curriculum
What Do You Learn?

The Medical Technology program in the School of Allied Health completes a four year program at the University of Connecticut leading to a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.

The program prepares students to take a national certification examination sponsored by either the ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel).

After three years of study at the affiliated college or university, students enter one of the hospital's two twelve-month programs which begin in July and January.

During the first seven months, students receive all of their lectures and student laboratories at Hartford Hospital.  Morning lectures cover topics that are coordinated with hands-on experience in afternoon lab sessions.

During the last 20 weeks, students are assigned to one of the following clinical sites: Hartford Hospital, Clincal Lab Partners (CORE Lab/Newington) and MidState Medical Center (Meriden), or optionally, they may request clinical training at location closer to their home (currently, Waterbury or Bridgeport hospitals are available locations).  Students are guaranteed a clinical site.
