The 2009 Black & Red beneficiary is Hartford Hospital’s
Minimally Invasive Surgical Institute

 

Hartford Hospital will hold its 18th annual Black & Red at The Bushnell Theatre on Saturday, January 31, 2009. The black-tie event will attract close to 800 guests for fine dining and entertainment by “Flipside”, a highly acclaimed band from Boston that has been named the best rhythm section in Boston. Period.

About the Black & Red

Since the gala’s inception in 1992, over four million dollars in net proceeds has been raised for Hartford Hospital’s programs and services. For a complete list of past beneficiaries, click here.

 

The funds raised from this year’s Black & Red will benefit Hartford Hospital’s Minimally Invasive Surgical Institute.  Physicians have used surgery for centuries to treat disease and save lives.  But today, new technologies, expanded knowledge and innovative procedures are revolutionizing surgical care.  Many procedures that used to require sizable, open incisions can now be done laparoscopically, using small incisions for tiny cameras and instruments.  Many conditions, such as stroke, for which there was once no treatment, can now be resolved using minimally invasive, image-guided procedures.  For patients, this “thinking small” means less trauma, reduced risk and shorter, easier recovery.

 

Hartford Hospital enjoys a national reputation for experience and outcome in multiple minimally invasive surgical and interventional procedures. We are excited about this program and look forward to a very successful 2009 Black & Red!
