Hartford Hospital has three ACGME-approved fellowship programs: cytopathology, hematopathology and surgical pathology.

The general philosophy is that fellows should play an active role in department activities (service, administrative and research) and should be given as much responsibility as they are able to assume, always with appropriate support. Fellows completing the program should be competent to pursue either an academic or a private practice career in Pathology. The faculty for the program is drawn from administration and from the medical staff of Hartford Hospital as well as from the faculty of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the State Medical Examiner.
