Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Connecticut has named Hartford Hospital as one of its Blue Distinction Centers for Complex Rare CancersSM. There are only 84 such centers designated in the United States, and only two in Connecticut. Complex and rare cancers comprise approximately 15 percent of new cancer cases each year, making it difficult for patients to locate research facilities with oncologists or surgical teams that are experienced in treating these specific malignancies. Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence status is bestowed upon a program following a rigorous evaluation process that documents safe surgical care and excellent outcomes, with an emphasis on results. Hartford Hospital a National Leader In Heart Attack Care

Hartford Hospital does a better job of treating and saving the lives of heart attack patients than the average U.S. hospital and outperforms national institutions ranked highest for cardiac care. Newly-released 2007 data show that Hartford Hospital had significantly better results compared to all participating hospitals and to best-practice institutions in treating patients with the most common type of heart attack.
